Ditto everyone's thoughts and warm best wishes to the 2 families ... I'm rubbish @ this sort of thing and usually combat it with really dry, black humour ... so I'll shut up now.

I would like to thank you all for your condolences they mean a great deal to me. I deal with death in a weird way i guess... i have seen death way too many times in my life and been to too many funerals. Its a fact of life that we cannot escape. It helps a great deal to be able to vent your frustration at death. I believe that the 5 steps of acceptance are true. I have no earthly idea where i am on it. I did make something for my friends family, i made this from the heart. I wrote the poem and did everything myself I hope that it does her justice and that they will accept it as a token of my gratitude of their friendship and my feelings for them. They have been there for me in troubled times and i will gladly return the favor. Here is the memorandum thing i made for each of them to keep. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv20 ... a11cf0.pngIt looks beautiful printed off on 8x10 glossy prints

I like it . Just one or two things though.I think the rings are far too bright. If this is Dead Space then they should be a lot darker, almost just a shadow. They are a nice shape and well positioned though. Also the asteroids are obstructing the view and are too blurry. As they are closer they should be more in focus. I know what your trying to do , it just needs a few adjustments. Try using fewer of them as well or have one large one (although not too large!) and focus on that with the smaller ones in the background. Apart from that it`s a nice image.(of course if that`s the way you prefer it then that`s fine - I would hate to seem as if I was preaching!)

I think the planet is fine now. The rings look really good. Much better. Maybe you could erase the glow on the shaded side of the planet or even just make that part not so bright. If the glow is on a separate layer it should be easy enough to do using a transparent radial gradient, making sure your colours are at the default setting of course. Even though there are fewer asteroids they are still too blurry though. I know the main focus is on the planet but ,as they are nearer, I don`t think they should be quite as blurry as that . Sort them and you should be just about done.

meh the planet will be a little tough to sort out... to save space i kind merged the glow layer with the planet layer... bad idea lol... i will have to go see if i can find an earlier version of my project to get it heh... and i am trying to sort out the asteroids but the way i am coloring the image is causing them to be a bit blurry. maybe if i push them below the planet layer that should solve the problem. edit: goonie you are a hard taskmaster but i think i have sorted it out now lol... well i hope i have... i value your knowledge at spacescapes because you are great at them

Glow is perfect! Nice one. I know it`s just a small thing and you don`t strictly need to do it , but you could line the planet and the rings up so they are both in the same plane. Take a look at Saturn and you`ll see what I mean. This version is so much better than the original. You can see how it has improved as you read through each post. Well done . You must be fed up of my nit picking now so I`ll just say thanks for taking on board what I suggested and keep up the good work.Don`t hesitate to ask if you need any advice. I`ll do my best to help if I can

Unlike Goon, I don't particularly like the glowing rings because rings are usually made of ice and rocks, but I won't suggest you to change it. What I would suggest is to make the ring on the righthand side of the planet to be darker so it matches the planet. Sort of like fading it faintly-like, if you can decipher what I mean.
The bigger stars, unfortunately, looks pixelated, probably from being expanded to a greater size. Usually I use brightness/contrast adjustment to tone it down a bit, and I'm sure you have done that. The asteroids could use some textures to give it more rock feel. Overall, this image is great, and has some untapped potentials.
I personally feel this board is a great way to get "advanced" feedback from all of us to improve your skill. Don't take me wrong, I think you have talent, and our desire here is to see you push it to the limit.
Keep it up, chad.

Lance I was referring to the glow of the planet.I agree about the rings and I suggested toning down them down in an earlier post but your idea of matching them to the planet is also a good one. I`ve done that myself with my ringed planets.

That's what I get for not reading the entire page. I saw the first one on my Blackberry Curve earlier today at work.

Personally, I love this image. I think that it has the most amazing planet texture (maybe a little softening on the edges) and the glowing rings adds a very nice touch. I also like the starry space and the spacescape's tranquility. Wonderful!

Thanks all . @ goonfella I don't mind the nit picky it helps me to be a better artist and push the limits . I will work on this image a bit more and i think i know what you mean by putting the rings on the same plane which means making them horizontal. @ lance i have been stumped lately on how to add texture to the asteroids seeing as i made them from scratch by doing clouds/threshold/magic wand/ copy/ paste/ bevel selection. I think if i add noise and use relief that might just to it. @ Helen thank you so much your words are always so encouraging. alright here is the result of alot of tweaking lol... i think this is like the 4 or 5 version already XD
