Step 1. Create a new image 350x350.

Image

Step 2. Change the primary color to 606060.

This text in parentheses is completely optional.
(If you want a completely seamless texture choose C0C0C0 as the primary color and use the paint bucket tool on the blank canvas and skip step 3.)

Image

Step 3. Select the gradient tool and then change it to linear (Reflected). The right click and go strait down.)

Image Image

Step 4. Chage the primary color back to black. Then go to Effects > Render > Diagonal Lines and set Scan-line Interval to 5 , next set brush width to 1 and then set the Antialias Level to 9.

Image Image

Step 5. Go to Effect > Add Noise and set Intensity to 60 and Color Saturation to 0.

Image

Step 6. Go to Adjustments > Curves and set Curves Luminosity to RGB and then un-check Blue and Green and pull the Red Line's down vertex almost on (3, 1) on the Chart. Now un-check the red and check the Green option and move the Green line's vertex almost on (2.5 , 1). Now hit ok and your done.

Here the Finished Product.
All constructive criticism or any suggestions is appreciated .

A nice texture, but I see a problem.

I can easily see the black, diagonal lines going across it.

If I may, I suggest trying to keep it a more blue and black color verses a blue and white color.

You may want to check out the weave and lattice effects that Ed Harvey wrote, as well.

:D

@trippdoctor
Try drawing the diagonal lines on a new layer, then adding a slight blur, this should make the lines less visible. But I think the overall effect is great. :D

Denim is like that after you wear it for a long time.

I like the way trippdoctor made it.

I've also made some denim before. different kind of denim.

Was this done with a plugin? I have the latest PDN (v 3.31.3...) and under Effects > Render I only have Clouds, Julia Fractals, and Mandelbrot Fractals.

What plugin would I use and where do I get it?

Well, in the last five hours, I learned about plugins and about included features/options I didn't see right in front of me.

I did find that when using the Paint Bucket fill tool, you can select patterns to work with, but that's not what trippdoctor did here, and I'm not sure it'd work as well.

Now I have two questions:
- Can this be done fairly effectively with the fill tool?
- What plugin is Diagonal Lines in?

Thanks!

Yep, I did find your page, and I had gotten a couple of large plugin packs earlier. I'm still getting aquainted with them, but I've been having fun with it. Thanks again.
