On the contrary Oma. The landscape alone is reason to keep this image. It`s so realistic . I think this image is great.

Where to start, i love this work i have witnessed scenes like this so many times over the years, i see it as late autumn/early winter dawn breaking because of the mist covered mountains and the doe drinking from the loch (just before sunrise is when they come down to drink), the movement and sheen from the water is perfect and the lapping round the rock is wonderful, i know Sargon mentioned the contrast of seagulls against the sky but that is exactly the effect i have seen and even more so when it is swans flying over, the Scottish red deer grow a heavier coat this time of year and it takes on the appearance of fur rather than hair (especially the stag), i have not even mentioned the fir trees but im starting to write a book here  i so wish you had not flattened the files... WONDERFUL piece Oma

 I've only just seen the D.A. version on here
Like everyone says, it still looks great and I guess it's a measure of your talent and dedication that you're not happy with it.
The antlers certainly don't look like they were drafted/grafted on

And the water is A+++++

well I'm glad to finish this one now I can get back to my paint.net pictures. clik for large size at DA
Image

it isn't paint.net but it is my own drawing. done in colored pencil. Its the reason I've not been too active lately. I've been working away at this one for a Christmas gift. I'm just going to make it under the wire for framing to be ready for Christmas. Hope my daughter likes it.

why thanks Welsh. I orginally downloaded paint.net because I wanted to learn to draw on paper and I thought it was a drawing class on line. LOL! boy was I ever surprised. for the longest time I just used it to crop images. then I thought there must be more to this program than that. so I taught myself thru books to draw on paper, and then to translate those lines to paint.net. the concepts are so similar I can see you easily doing things on paper soon.

just think " I can do this, I can do this, just get a few lines down on paper and don't beat yourself up if they are not perfect. that will come in time. "

ciao
OMA

You know oma, you're just an inspiration in and about. You teaching yourself to draw is just so motivational. Your images are coded with wisdom and all the best memories one can think of. I absolutely love those flowers! Like barbieq said, the person will be lucky.

The image of the roses is so beautiful, the work on the petals is awesome, and love the red touch on the small leaves, every thing is well managed and the flow is so well done in whole work, great piece of art congrats oma. I am sure your daughter will love it.

Oma, at least you've given it a go. I think you're right about the perfection coming with practice. Again the roses are beautiful & it is a work to be very proud of.

Like Welsh, I wish I could draw. I could never draw (or cut) in a straight line. It always look like it's going on a tangent before I realized it wasn't straight. That's why I use a ruler all the time to draw straight line. I once used ruler to measure how far apart the lines were on my screen...

@Saragon and Barbieq25 thanks you for nice words .

@ Lance I've an artist friend Lance she draws for a living. She often uses a ruler, and has some round templates she uses for eyeballs in portraits. In fact she gave me one of those templates and my pictures look so much better now.

ciao OMA

ps I've been known to hold an old wooden ruler up to the monitor as well before   now I use selection tool and fixed size draw a box/rectangle and move that around as my virtual ruler. easier and a bit more accurate....at least for me.
