I actually was attempting to make my own PDN-esque program a while ago, but I lost interest quickly. It was really only a proof-of-concept anyways. Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1

My biggest problem is a slow computer as well. I want to get to know Terragen but rendering times are so slow!

@ Sidneys ... pretty cool concept. Who knows, maybe one day you could take it into full production. Never say never and all that spiderART could be great on the w.w.WEB On the terragen front I'm sure with a lot of practice, tutorials etc it's a cracking piece of kit. The images on the sites show that; BUT I'm an impatient soul who likes to jump in by reading a lil' and messing a lot and I think with terragen it's not the best practice to have Which is why I became so obsessed ( ) with PDN ... the only tuts I've really done are oma's and Ash's. and I learnt to think outside the box re plug-ins and the ease you can make things I'll carry on playing with it but PDN is and most probably will be my main programme.

I'm working on a much more interesting project right now... Not much has been publicly released, but think the PDN of video editing. Free, plugin-based, and powerful. It'll be a long time before I'm done with the first beta, but until then, keep it in mind. Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1

I have removed Terragen from my computer. Seeing how it can be done with PDN, I decided to junk it in favor of PDN.
Sidneys, that sound like a really interesting project you are doing. I don't do video editing, but I can think of a couple of artists who would be interested in using it. I'm looking at you Sargon and Oma.

Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1 Really? <his stubby little ears perk up> I do video projects on my You Tube channel. I use Pinnacle Studio 10 and I have one of those little SD card video cameras. It does record in 720p so I can get some pretty good footage. I am always looking for an Open Source video editor with more effects. Since I started using PdN I have added it to make my title shots and dissolve into stills type stuff, but I need something more in the actual video parts. Keep me in mind when you want someone to test things for you. Now for the shameless self promotion this is my You Tube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/PossumRoadkill

Possum, you can always scour SourceForge for plenty of open source video editors. I'm sure there's something there you can use.

I use PDN and Apophysis. It's all I need and I love 'em both. Lance: I agree with you where you said "Personally, I don't see anything wrong with incorporating stocks, fractal from another program, and using PDN to manipulate them to paint your message." There's nothing wrong with using whatever software tool you need to create a work of art. "Art" is about the finished product, not the medium. Also, I downloaded Open Office and I absolutely love it. I like it better than Microoffice Office. That's my two cents worth, (that's all it's worth)

It has been a few months since I looked, but the last time I did there were very few choices for Windows based systems. There are some really killer apps out there for Linux systems to do video production. I have even thought about getting a laptop and dedicating it to being a Linux system just for video. Don't get me wrong, I really like the version of Pinnacle I have. It's easy to use, but it doesn't come with many effects and it is kind of a memory hog. I'll take another look and see what pops up and let you know. As for other Open Source stuff, I use everything I can get my paws on. I really liked Open Office, but I get a full copy of MS Office through my job and am required to use things in that format. I have a few Open Source video players, video converters, media players and so on and so forth. I use Google Chrome and Firefox browsers. I also have various image editors or manipulators. Being a geographer I am currently using some great Open Source software for our County GIS website called Map Server that I used to create my GIS website. http://www.henrycogis.org/geomoose/henrygis.html It saved our County about $50k in site development and software costs. Our IT person, myself and one of my staff created the entire site and host and maintain it saving the County around $12k per year in hosting and maintenance fees. It has changed my job for the better in so many ways.

Now, that's a testimony to the power of Open Source software. I just wish that so many people would honor the good reason for Open Source, not abuse it.

Like why PDN is no longer publicly open source... I HATE people who rip off software. I've even had people rip off my software. It sucks.
