So Chito you had this problem with v 3.36 also, because I want to upgrade to 3.5, I already have downloaded MS NetFrame 3.5, but not the PDN I really Love 3.36, I don't know why should I upgrade to 3.5..!, do you guys think that the plugins will work also with 3.36 after the latest updating of most of them, I didn't try yet.

Maybe I`m one of the lucky ones but I have not had any problem with Custom Brushes or the lagging paintbrush you describe. I tried changing colours , brushes, colours and brushes at the same time and it worked fine.
I did experience a problem where the progress bar at the bottom never finished filling properly when I resized an image. But I could still use PDN as normal and the image was resized as I wanted. I did have to restart PDN to cure it though. But it hasn`t occurred since.
To be honest, from all the problems I`ve seen being experienced by a number of people , maybe Rick took the program out of Beta a bit too early. Seems to be lots of bugs still to sort out.

Sargon - good question. If there are people reverting to 3.36 because of the problems they`ll need the plug ins to work there too.

Thanks Goonfella, thats why I was asking, so I'll keep a copy of my current effects (without doing any new updating to any one of them) in a safe place, a lot of things to keep it is confusing  .

No worries I still have them :), but don't know if I have all of them  , my effects folder contains 162 DLL files, how many you've got?

are you not running both 3.36 and 3.5?

as I ck if the plugin works in 3.5 I delete it from my 3.36 dlls. by the time I'm done there will only be the dlls in the old program on my computor that do not work in 3.5. its a bit of a hassel saving a layer and opening the old program just to do one or two things. then copying and reinserting back into the 3.5.
but well worth it to keep the oct. shape plugin working and a few others.
by the way did anyone make a mention in that plugin thread it was requiring some update? Its by the same fellow that did mirror over line, so he's still around.

on the brushes front. I really fail to understand why people require so many? I actually use brushes but I only ever have a total of say 10 brushes ever in the file. If I must keep a brush I store it somewhere else on my computor and import in before I do an image. (and the brushes I use I make myself except for the hard brush soft brush and the one with the little dots (spatter?).Whittle down that file, I'm guessing you've used most of them brushes one time only.
ciao OMA

To be perfectly honest with you Sargon III, I think my PDN was in perfect working condition back when I had the v3.35 installed. After the v3.36 upgrade, little lags and small errors here and there started to show up. The most frustrating issue has always been the semi-freeze state that PDN would get into even with v3.6. Whenever I would leave PDN alone for more than 30 minutes or so. It would take a long time to finally respond and start working and it would cause my computer to slow down its response as well. People are always ask me about my CPU, Memory, etc, but I have lots of that and everything runs smoothly and fast. PDN is the only program that does this. I was able to live with the 'semi-freeze' state because I started to pick up the habit of whenever I'm done, to save everything and close PDN. Then when I wish to work on a project again, I'll just open it. But the lagging paintbrush issue that started with the recent v3.5 upgrade is even more frustrating because it's not precise anymore, especially when I want to work with small details using a 1 pixel paintbrush width as I mentioned in my last post here.

If I was you Sargon III, I'd wait some time before upgrading to v3.5. Maybe it was released way too soon and was not properly tested for all these new bugs. I agree with Goonfella when he says:

I regret upgrading to v3.5 big time and losing all my plugins. I should have waited a few more months longer before upgrading. Now I have to start all over searching and adding all the plugins I've added in the past. But maybe I'll wait before I add those too since even certain plugins are being modified to work with v3.5. This is going to be a loooong winter. lol :?

I used to have the laggy problem in 3.36 if I'd been using PDN for an hour or so, and closing it (when it decided to let me) then re-strarting it made it ok for another hour.

I decided to jump in with both feet and deleted 3.36. So far I don't regret it.
Granted visual changes take a while to get used ... lack of marching ants etc, but so far the only thing I'm missing is the Oct/Quad thingymigiggy. (thanks to Goon' sending me the Height Field to Normal plug-in)
On the brushes front I don't know how they respond, because I haven't got any :P
Personally I think gradients are smoother in 3.5 too and so far the paint-brush tool is as precise as my hand will let it be ...

Touch wood, it will keep behaving.

This is another speak as you find discussion ... y'all can judge my next image ... it's all 3.5

Simon Brown has released a new Normal Map plugin. This supersede Harold's original plugin. Now, lets bug Evans about having his oct/reshape plugin updated.

Chito, I noticed your remark about the paintbrush, and I believe that Rick said it is a known issue.

Edit: As a thought, do you think that Oblique may be a workaround solution to the oct/reshape matte?
