You will need the new beta of PdN

to get this go to help>check for updates. Now go to options and make sure that both boxes are checked. Now hit ok and install the update.

-------------------------------------------------

In this tut you will get this cool sig background, but doesn't have to be a sig:

Image

You will need this plugin:

Ed Harvey Effects

1. Start with a 800x600

2. Make your secondary color darkish green (keep primary black)

3. Set the paint bucket tool to "shingle" and click anywhere on your canvas.

4. Now go to Image>Rotate 90 clockwise. You should have this now:

Image

5. Now crop any where on it using the rectange select tool. I am using a sig but creativity never killed the cat.

Image

6. Now duplicate that layer, layer>duplicate layer. Now use emboss (effects>stylize>emboss) at default settings. You should have this now:

Image

7. Double click on the top duplicated layer. Set the settings to these:

Image

8. Now make sure your primary color is black and secondary fully transparent. Go to effects>render>clouds at these settings:

Image

9. Now set your primary color to red (not dark, no dark!)

10. Hit ctr+F

11. Now you should have this bloody beaten up scaly thingy:

Image

12. Add new layer and make a border sig leaving probably 10 pxls from the edge.

13. Use the magic wand tool to select the outer part of this layer (from the border line to edge of canvas.) It should look like this:

Image

14. Now with that still selected go to the other layer and use the color tint plugin. Set it to red.

15. Flatten and done! Unless you want to add text.

I'm changing color to red, but only get black showing through.
Tried three times but no luck. Help!!

Set the paint bucket to shingle got me...had no idea that it did anything but flood the image with colour... Oh dear! Well there ya go. Learnt something even from an ancient tute...the principle still applies.

It is a great tute & I can see many applications for it.
