Interesting...my first thought was some kind of icy planet, but then factoring in the clouds in the bg, I started thinking hailstone... I *really* like the textured effect (I've failed at pulling that off enough times to know how hard it is), but I keep thinking it doesn't look quite round enough...anybody else seeing it kind of button-ish, or is that just me? |

It could be space clouds, nebula....etc. But the truth is....it's the base texture of the orb thingy. sneaky, huh? :p And yes, I made it NOT round, that was one of the point of this piece. |

I finally know what the texture reminds me of! If you've ever played StarCraft, it's a lot like the Zerg "creep" (a biological substance that covers the ground occupied by one of the three player races), except in blue rather than purple... I'm almost afraid to ask, but how many steps did it take to get that texture? |

I am more of a FPS gamer, not so hot about RTS. Anyways, do you mean the base texture/background? or the final texture/orb thing? |

Anyways, do you mean the base texture/background? or the final texture/orb thing? The orb texture...yours is much more randomized, of course... Example:

Ash, I bow to the great king of PDN...your work is so stunning, it takes PDN to a whole new height. I would love to know how you made the glass piece...the green curvy glass back a few posts. It seem you used gradient, and a lot of BoltBait's transparency plugin. Conversative estimate is it took about 50 layers to make it so stunning. Heh, I would use the , but those would not suffice to express my delight in seeing your work. I hope to hear some feedback from you to help my skill.

I really should save each step... Lance McKnight wrote: Ash, I bow to the great king of PDN...your work is so stunning, it takes PDN to a whole new height.

Have you tried making it already? If yes, let me know what part you are stuck, or any questions. If not, try it first. You will be able to ask better questions only if you try first. Because, that was a method from a while back, maybe we can find even better methods now. |

I tried a glass bottle in my gallery, it was my first attempt at making a true glass bottle. Could you give me a feedback on how it could be improved? |

I remember seeing that one. More define edges. Also you are missing part of the table behind the glass. |

More define edges. Also you are missing part of the table behind the glass. Looking back at my picture, I can see what you mean. Like I said before, I did not realize I could use alpha masking on the Chaoscope render to separate the gas from the black background. It's all in the learning experience, as I'm sure you know very well, and I appreciate your feedback. Perhaps next time, I'll be able to make a more defined glass bottle without having to resort to excessive use of radial blur, and more with alpha masking. Thanks again for your tip. |
