That wrench is a brand new one, looks awesome with that texture on the hand as Goonfella said ( but the texture is not aligned well with the hand itself or my eyes may be need an alignment, who knows  ), you know what, I don't like new tools in real life, I like them to look old and scratched having some grease and black spots on them ( exactly like the Artist's Pallette, which I love it) that makes me comfortable to work with, but how could you hang that wrench on the tool-board :slap: ?

The photobucket files

Your file is larger that 1000 KB, I thought free photobucket doesn't host files larger than that...!

There isn't an Apng there. 2 gifs made with Unfreez and 1 made with LunaPic, an online gif animator. ImageShack host Apng's though. If that's any help.

Yep mate I know, they are all gifs. and good to know that ImageShack hosts Apng ( thanks), but I don't have an account there, I did post some Apng animations on Photobucked before and worked well, but lately after their last update for site, my Apng animation never work.

the Motel was 12 frames bringing Yorricks face into it ... hmmmm maybe nobody noticed that. Maybe my work is too subtle @ times

Yorricks face, yes right I just noticed that :slap:, my bad, sorry  , looks awesome btw.

@ 'Chad ... thanks mate. As I said above (and in PM on the other board) UnFreez. There's also Benetton gif maker. Maybe Sargon' has got some suggestions, his gifs are always top-notch.

Chad, Beneton Movie Gif ( BMG) is my favorite among free ones, it has a batch of images feature, and revers features also, and the time-line is so easy to manage, but doesn't support images larger than 720x500, it resizes them to this size then works on them.

Welsh mate that adjustable is  the work you are producing at the moment is par excellence, i love the abstracts you are putting together, Artist palette i would happily hang on my wall.... wonderful stuff mate :)

EDIT : one of the first things i noticed was Yorrick in Bates Motel as well as the tie between Bates, more than Prices Slashed and Hitchcock's psycho

Poor Yorrick...I didn't find him. I'll have to use another pc & have a look.

@ G.F. ... I'm not writing Arsenal off from either the League or FA Cup, they're looking pretty good.
Is this better ? In that it should be more shiney.

RE: My ego. [Censored! This is a family friendly forum!]. Does it show up as being big ? That's never been my intention.
Maybe why I'm considering just posting on the one board. The only one's that really comment on my work are mostly from here and it would save me time and logistics to just post on one place. Here or the main boards is the question ?

@ Helen ... Please accept it's PDN. Your work inspires me to push the plug-ins and to see what results they can make.
You also inspire ~~BabyBlue~~ so much she's nagged me for days to ask you to make her a sig' matching yours.
I've told her to make her own, but she's adamant :|
The pallette was a good way of emptying my head of all the things I'd like to do in PDN and then concentrate on the things I can

@ Barbie' ... I think it would be great to have a texture thread, there's so many we've all made, and we should share, in the spirit of PDN being ... free.
If you need an adjustable spanner (wrench) you'd be better off asking a friend ... the one I made is too bulky, plus you need electricity for any monitor :P
(I shouldn't laugh @ my own jokes, that no-one else may get :ouch: )

@ 'Chad ... if you think a computer drawn, textured spanner is sexy. You really need to get out more

@ Sargon' ... nope it's not your eyes. The chamfered, bevelled grip is 'out'. I didn't notice until I loaded it. Then I realised I'd merged the wrong layers.
That seems to be a theme running through a few of us lately. :P
RE: the animation sizes, I'll get back to you on those. ImageShack have always given me a post code by googling
Again you've made me think about and try things. A dirty, scratched adjustable spanner for you
Image
Better ?

@ A.F.G. ... If you ever feel inclined to print off Artist's Pallette ... feel free to hang it on any wall you wish.
With my compliments for the inspiration your images have given me ( That all applies to anyone else who is a PDN Fanatic member )

@ Barbie' again ... Alas ... maybe you'll spot poor Yorrick soon

@ oma ... Knowing, you like my work is reward enough. Don't go wasting your time on me. Unless you really want to make me a badge with: advanced abstract achievement award on it :| :P  8)

Apart from the 2 changes I've made to the adjustable spanner

I've played around trying to find tree bark.
This is a hybrid of Douglas Fir and young Red Cedar

*** The axe may be a new addition in the Tools section, or I may make a chisel/ wood image :?
But as always, thanks to everyone who commented on my past images and thanks to everyone who has supported my work.
it really is appreciated.

I mainly post here because I get the most intelligent feedback from folks. My gallery is buried on page 2 and I say, "Good riddance!"

C&C...I am loving the fir and axe piece. The end of the axe almost disappears into the background. The top of the stump looks too common...not sure how to explain it. But the bark...that is just incredible! It looks realistic! Any chance of getting rid of the background? It looks horrible now that I had 5 looks at it. I'm thinking a landscape portrait is the way to go.

 :o :o   Incredible! Superb! I really don't know what else to say. Everything is just so.........perfect. I even like the plain background because it puts all the attention on the professional woodwork. And the blade...ouch...it looks so sharp. I'm amazed at how you captured such a picture perfect moment. :P Perfect job!

 Thanks for the new/old adjustable spanner, looks awesome.
And the tree bark is excellent, I was trying to find out but that is not easy to achieve I believe you used the Varicose effect, didn't you? The result is awesome, but I never satisfied with mine ones.
The axe is very nice as well .

@ Welshy...I like all the spanners...esp. the used one  In my toolbox I do not have an adjustable spanner - you know why

Ego? What ego? If trying to get things right to the idea that we have in mind is a big ego then I'm with you.

Posting & commenting on both boards is painful for me too...chews up my download. That is why I had only posted here for so long. Here you get C&C & encouragement. No, it's not an ego thing...more a striving for improvement. I'm seriously thinking about not posting on the other board because the only ones that comment, have already posted here.

I'm far too old to be mucked about. So, I guess that settles it for me then. I will only post on this forum & give C&C on your works here. I'll continue to enter the SOTW & WOTW & hopefully give some encouragement to young ones. If the tone of these comps continues to deteriorate, they can take a leap too.

The axe & the stump are brilliant. You never cease to amaze me with your wood texture. I guess it comes from having a wealth of knowledge of wood & a good grasp of PDN with a smattering of pure genius.

At first I thought, Lance, what are you on about, the background is ok. On viewing it a number of times, you are right. It does put the focus on the stump & the axe as HELEN said but it kinda gives the impression that the objects are disembodied. Then, it comes back to what the artist was wanting to achieve. Texture is the idea being conveyed, yes? Brilliantly done! Also the image is a good start to a scene.

Good onya, Welshy!

@ Lance' ... thanks mate. I know exactly what you mean about the top of the log ... I think common sums it up perfectly.
I'll be working on that before I make the log cabin.
And just for you, I've changed the background
Image

@ Sargon ... an even dirtier spanner for ya :P
Image

The bark texture ... sort of goes like this >>> Clouds - Height Field to Normal - Displacement - Alpha Displacement - Varicose - Enhance Details were used on the different layers, I'll tell you more when I try to re-capture it

@ Chad' ... thanks mate ... quite enjoyable ... I prefer sexy :P

@ Helen ... thank you again, the axe was a quick play but I think I'll work on it some more to get it looking a bit more real.

@ Barbie' ... thank you very much. Yep it was the texture I was trying to get across, but Lance was right, the background didn't do much for it.
On posting on both boards, I'll still post my work there, but don't expect anyone who has posted about it here to feel obliged to comment over there ... unless they think it's a remarkable piece and want to bump my gallery
I've sometimes thought I've posted on both boards about people's work, only to realise that I haven't when they've posted new stuff
Thanks again

Much improved, Welsh. The new background makes the stump and axe pop out more, giving it a warm feel, and it also gives the handle of the axe more reddish tint than the blue background did.

The adjustable spanner that is now rusted...classic. It looks like one of my tools that, even though rusted, is still strong and usable. I do not understand why people throw away a practically good tool for a shiny new one.

No doubt about this, Welsh, you are definitely a master of wood and metal texture. Keep it up. And maybe I'll do this: I recommend that Welshblue be ranked.

I think any of your spanners would be fine in my toolbox . I was just thinking of how all those brand new chrome spanners looked when I referred to the shininess. :D
And of course the ego bit was just a wind up.

As for your latest, you simply amaze me with your woodwork ! That tree bark is awesome as is the axe. So realistic. Keep `em coming I say.
